A Legacy Built Over Time
Where It All Began
Step 1
1941
The Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) was established in 1941 when a group of dedicated owners and enthusiasts came together to create an official registry and association for Palomino horses. What started in California eventually expanded to Texas, laying the groundwork for a structured organization focused on preserving, promoting, and improving the Palomino horse.
In 1986, PHBA relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where it established its permanent headquarters. Over the decades, the organization has grown into an international community that supports horse owners, exhibitors, breeders, and youth participants while maintaining records for more than 90,000 horses and owners.

Preserving What
Matters
As the organization grew, so did the importance of preserving its history — its milestones, its people, and the stories that shaped the Palomino legacy. It became clear these moments deserved to be protected and shared with future generations.
In 2008, the Palomino Horse Breeders Heritage Foundation was established to safeguard the history of PHBA and the Palomino horse. Through the efforts of leaders and supporters, the Foundation was officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and began its work in preservation and education.

2013
In 2013, the Palomino Heritage Museum officially opened, creating a dedicated space to house artifacts, archives, and exhibits that tell the story of the Palomino horse and its community. Since then, the Foundation has expanded its efforts by collecting historical materials, supporting educational initiatives, and ensuring the legacy remains alive.
The work of preserving the Palomino legacy is ongoing. New stories are added, milestones are celebrated, and the community continues to grow. The Foundation is committed to honoring the past while supporting the future of the Palomino horse and those who are passionate about it.
